Presented by Golden Circle Inc., A Hatful of Rain is set in the Lower East Side of New York City shortly after the end of the Korean War. The play centers around Johnny Pope, a war hero and former POW, and his struggle to renew his commitment to his wife Celia and re-enter civilized American society. The war, however, has changed that society as well as Johnny and both must choose between the needs of the past and the promises of an uncertain future. Written more than fifty years ago during a deceptively innocent time in American history, A Hatful of Rain tells a working-class tale of betrayal, addiction, courage, and the power to forgive. David Blanchard directs.
