(© Michael Wilson) | Four-time Tony Award winner Audra McDonald will perform the songs "Solitude," "There Won't Be Trumpets," and "10,432 Sheep" as part of the L.A. Philharmonic's Gala Celebration, to be held at 7pm on Thursday, October 2 at the Walt Disney Concert Hall.
The event, which will also mark the beginning of conductor Esa-Pekka Salonen's last season with the orchestra, will also feature opera singer Dawn Upshaw performing selections from the operas The Rake's Progess and Nixon in China and soprano Barbara Hannigan singing Ligeti's "Mysteries of the Macabre." The orchestra will also perform numerous selections from Igor Stravinsky's Firebird.
Concert tickets range from $21-$184 and can be ordered by calling 323-850-2000. Gala tickets, which include a pre-concert reception and post-show dinner and dancing begin at $1500 and can be ordered by calling 213-972-3051.
