L.A. Wicked Teams Up With Universal Citywalk for Wannabe Wicked Contest

By: Tristan Fuge · Jul 17, 2008 · Los Angeles

The Wannabe Wicked contest
The Wannabe Wicked contest
The Los Angeles production of Wicked will team up with Universal Citywalk to present the Wannabe Wicked contest. As part of Universal CityWalk's free Summer Block Party entertainment series, this competitive performance series will award an aspiring performer with a walk-on appearance in the L.A. production of the hit musical. The production is directed by Joe Mantello, with musical staging by Wayne Cilento.

Each Wednesday performance will showcase ten selected performers who have been invited to sing before a live Universal CityWalk audience, with competition dates on July 30 and August 6. On August 20, the finalists will perform again and a winner will be selected to win a walk-on appearance in Wicked.

Performers who wish to take part in the competition can still participate by uploading and submitting their online video performance entry, selecting one song to perform from a list of five suggested songs: "Popular," "Defying Gravity," "Dancing Through Life," "For Good" or "The Wizard and I."
