The new musical comedy Minsky's, which is playing at Los Angeles' Ahmanson Theatre through March 1, is still eyeing a Broadway run sometime during the 2009-2010 season, according to published interviews with one of its producers, Kevin McCollum.

The show officially opened earlier this week to mixed to positive reviews. McCollum was quoted as saying financing for a transfer was not an issue, even though the show would likely require in excess of $10 million in capitalization. No theater for the production has been mentioned.

Set in the burlesque world of New York City in the 1930s, the show is directed and choreographed by Casey Nicholaw, and features a book by Tony Award winner Bob Martin, music by Tony winner Charles Strouse, and lyrics by Susan Birkenhead.

According to reports, it is unclear whether the current cast would move to Broadway intact. The show currently stars Christopher Fitzgerald as Billy Minsky, with Kevin Cahoon, John Cariani, Rachel Dratch, Beth Leavel, Katharine Leonard, Gerry Vichi, Paul Vogt, and George Wendt. The ensemble will include Megan Nicole Arnoldy, Nathan Balser, Roxane Barlow, Jennifer Bowles, Kirsten Bracken, Jennifer Frankel, Linda Griffin, Blake Hammond, Philip Hoffman, Stacey Todd Holt, Marc Kessler, Sabra Lewis, Matt Loehr, Ariel Reid, Jeffrey Schecter, Angie Schworer, Sarrah Strimel, Charlie Sutton, Jennifer Werner, and Patrick Wetzel.

The creative team will include Anna Louizos (scenic design), Gregg Barnes (costume design), Ken Billington (lighting design), Acme Sound Partners (sound design), Phil Reno (musical direction and vocal arrangements), Doug Besterman (orchestrations), and Glen Kelly (arrangements).
