Nathan Gunn To Star in L.A. Opera’s The Elixir of Love

The L.A. Opera has announced principal casting for its upcoming production of L’Elisir d’Amore, September 12-30 at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. The production will be conducted by James Conlon and directed by Stephen Lawless.

The cast will feature Giuseppe Fillanoti (Nemorino), Nino Machiadze (Adina), Nathan Gunn (Sergeant Belcore), Ruggero Raimondi (Doctor Dulcamara), and Valerie Vinzznat (Gianetta). The creative team includes Johan Engels (sets and costumes) and Joan Sullivan-Genthe (lighting).

Additional programming for the 2009-2010 season includes Handel’s Tamerlano starring Placido Domingo and Bejun Mehta, Wagner’s Ring Cycle, Il Barbiere di Siviglia, and a rare staging of Franz Schreker’s Die Gezeichneten, as part of the company’s “Recovered Voices” series. In addition, there will be special recitals by opera greats Thomas Hampson and Renée Fleming.
