Ignoring labels has carved a niche for the Young Dubliners as a fusion band -- not rock, not punk, not Celtic but all of those sounds punctuated with penny whistles, mandolins, and other classically Irish instruments. That sound keeps them producing exciting new music that has continually won critical acclaim. "With All Due Respect -- The Irish Sessions," paid tribute to classic Irish performers and won fans throughout the world as well as the No. 14 slot on the Billboard charts. Building a fervent fan base comparable to that of jam band rockers like Phish and Dave Matthews Band, the Young Dubliners have become notorious for the whirling jig pits that erupt at their live shows.
