WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
In Baile Beag in 1833, the students of an Irish hedge-school, both young and old, face sudden change when a detachment of the Royal Engineers arrives, charged with recording all local Gaelic names and rendering them into English. The characters wonder how a culture can survive the loss of its tongue.
