La Jolla Playhouse presents the world premiere of Thoroughly Modern Millie, a new musical comedy inspired by one of the most successful -- and hilarious -- musical movies of all time. It's 1922 and modern women are bobbing their hair, raising their hemlines, entering the workforce, and rewriting the rules of love. Based on Richard Morris' original story and screenplay, the show features a book by Morris and Dick Scanlan, with additional lyrics by Scanlan and additional music by Jeanine Tesori. Michael Mayer directs. Harriet Harris replaces Pat Carroll as Mrs. Meers after December 3.
