WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
The Malcontent is John Marston's viciously funny, filthy and surprising Jacobean masterpiece. The usurped Duke of Genoa takes the disguise of the outrageous Malevole (the titular Malcontent) to spy on the corrupt foibles of the new Duke and his unctuous cronies. Disguises, false deaths, seductions, deceptions, and adulteries all drive the plot of this enormously entertaining play. Elizabeth Swain will direct.

Through top-notch acting, effective and artful direction, beautiful staging and period costumes, The Antaeus Company brings a rare Jacobean play to life. Though the play is described as a comedy-tragedy, this production of The Malcontent leans toward side-splitting hilarity. You will laugh A LOT! You HAVE to see this -- even if you are not a fan of period theatre, you will love this story of twisted court intrigue, corruption and redemption. It is a bawdy tale, not appropriate for children You will be hard-pressed to find a more beautiful, powerful production anywhere in LA. The Antaeus has done a terrific job bringing The Malcontent to life. GO.
