WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
James Goldman's The Lion in Winter centers on the trials of King Henry II of England with his wife and three sons over the choice of his successor. It is an imaginative chronicle, condensed into a Christmas-tide 24 hours in 1183, of a royal family's disputes that unraveled over several years.
