WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

LA TIMES CRITIC'S CHOICE! LAST THREE SHOWS: Tuesday, March 1 8pm Wednesday, March 2 8pm Closing Thursday, March 3 8pm "engrossing...a considerable achievement." "Ridley seeks to right the stereotypical wrongs of countless Hollywood films, and he largely succeeds." "The fact-based plot unfolds with notable character, politically incorrect banter and genuine surprises." "...the blend of stylization and realism throughout is compelling." "Director Kipp Shiotani and a seamless company keep the energy taut." "The wonderful cast interacts with house-stilling skill." --- LA Times A world premiere drama written by John Ridley (screenwriter of U-Turn, Three Kings, Cold Around the Heart, Undercover Brother). Ten Thousand Years follows a group of young pilots that voluntarily train to fly specially designed airplane bombs on suicide missions for the Japanese government near the closing of World War II. As their training progresses and defeat becomes more imminent, the physical and psychological stress begins to make them question action, art and ritual death. JOHN RIDLEY author/commentator/screenwriter/director Playwright John Ridley is the host of THE MOVIE CLUB, a new talk show on AMC. Currently, he is adapting and planning to direct the TV show Barbershop for Showtime, based on the smash-hit 2003 film. He is the author of six published novels, the most recent, Those Who Walk in Darkness from Warner Books and The Drift from Knopf. His first novel, Stray Dogs, was made into the feature film U-TURN directed by Oliver Stone and starring Sean Penn and Jennifer Lopez. Additionally, Ridley wrote the screenplays for the films THREE KINGS, UNDERCOVER BROTHER, and COLD AROUND THE HEART. He was most recently a writer-producer on the NBC series Third Watch, as well as creator-producer on UPN's one-hour drama Platinum, co-produced by Francis Ford Coppola and Sofia Coppola.
