WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

This Dickensian tale begins as Regina Louise navigates her way throughout 30 foster homes and many residential treatment centers throughout California. Told through 16 pairs of shoes, Someone's Somebody is adapted from the December 2005, Los Angeles Times Column One article: "Memories Shrouded in Doubt". At 11-years old, Regina Louise, denied the right to belong to a family, made a pact with God, then set out on her own to find a place to call home. In 1976, an adoption petition was over-ruled, filed on her behalf by a counselor who worked at the orphanage. Regina Louise is black. The woman who wanted to be her mother is white. By journey's end - a New York hotel room - we are all left with the thought: "love is never wasted." Someone's Somebody explores identity, race, and the ultimate question of perceived human value. The Heart Gallery Los Angeles will display photos of older youth awaiting adoption throughout the run of the show.
