In Some of My Parts, Darith Lallou Mackenzie weaves together a series of tantalizing, heartfelt and wickedly funny characters, ages nine to 75. Dari steps deftly into the shoes of every character we encounter along the way. Recollections, firmly rooted in a commanding matriarchy, are shared with an eccentric grandmother (married 8 times), the Jewish mother she always wanted but never had, and many other rich and varied characters. The show's monologues explore first love, sexual bewilderment, marriage and obsession with youth. Whether recounting sex-capades with European men, swearing off cosmetic surgery, or mourning a taciturn father, Ms. Mackenzie's rich and varied characters dare us to embrace our flawed and glorious humanity.
