WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
David Marshall Grant's Snakebit transfers from The Coast Playhouse. Clever, funny and wise, this is a comedy of contemporary manners and a study of friendship put to the test. Jenifer, although worried about her sick six-year-old daughter, accompanies her actor husband Jonathan to Los Angeles, where he hopes to land a leading role in a big budget movie. They stay with Michael, a gay social worker, who?in addition to being Jonathan's childhood friend?had a secret affair with Jenifer just before she married Jonathan a decade ago. Jenifer fears that her daughter's illness might be AIDS that she might have contracted from Michael.

It's a welcome evening of solidly resounding insights into the human condition at the turn of the new century--particularly for Los Angelenos. Snakebit is deftly constructed, with dialogue that rings true. And, until the characters' negativity causes them to implode, the play i[...]
