WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
La Jolla Playhouse presents Private Fittings, by Georges Feydeau, translated and adapted by Mark O'Donnell and directed by Des McAnuff. In The Sheila and Hughes Potiker Theatre.
In this effervescent world premiere adaptation of a classic Feydeau farce, a newlywed doctor and his favorite lady patient think they've found the perfect hideaway for a tryst in a fashion designer's abandoned abode. But when unexpected visitors come calling - from a meddling mother-in-law to a beefy husband to a clueless dolt who just won't leave - the good doctor finds his best-laid plans have gone horribly, hilariously awry.

French farceur Georges Feydeau might have felt flummoxed if he had attended the opening night of Private Fittings in the La Jolla Playhouse's new Sheila and Hughes Potiker Theatre. Feydeau's first full-length play, Tailleur Pour Dames, served as the basis for Mark O'Donnell's newly translated and adapted version. O'Donnell won a Tony Award for his work in adapting the John Waters film Hairspray to the stage and has built a strong reputation for his earlier work in adapting Feydeau and Molière.
