Prelude & Liebestod peels away the public facade of a world famous Leonard Bernstein-esque conductor to reveal his homo-erotic desires and painful quest for spiritual and artistic satisfaction. The haunting Wagner opera underscores the drama of a man overcome by his inability to integrate his physical passions with a meaningful life.
The tour-de-force by Larry Eisenberg as The Conductor is made particularly powerful by his striking resemblance to Leonard Bernstein.
