The Open Fist Theatre Company is proud to present an updated version of Shakespeare's Measure 4 Measure. In Vienna, a place that looks remarkably like Hollywood today,we find a city leader who has unintentionally let his city fall careless ruin. He determines that one of his most morally restrained deputies,
Angelo, should take charge in order to check the city's downward spiral into decadence and sexual license. Under the temporary leader's rule, the moral pendulum swings to a new extreme. The first scapegoat of Angelo's sudden
power is Claudio, a young man imprisoned and sentenced to death for impregnating his ladylove. Claudio's sister Isabella, about to take her vows as a nun, pleads with Angelo for her brother's life. An unexpected and
indecent proposal from Angelo sets in motion a story wherein family values and sexual freedom are challenged, and which inspires us anew to question how issues of morality should figure into government.
