WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
Matthew Modine stars in the world premiere of his satire that parodies celebrity humanitarianism, Hollywood, and hand sanitizer.
As the big screen star of Stanley Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket, heartthrob Matthew Modine was 'A-List' all the way. But, that was 1987. Now, he's so far off the A-list, and he needs to get back in the limelight so he needs a Cause. With the help of uber-publicist Whimberly North, Matthew toward the common good and heads off to a small South American village to meet the Chimborazzi tribe and save their alpacas.

One of the most amateurish , lame productions I have seen in recent memory. A High School play would be better done. To see this in LA is embarassing. There were some really good inside lines.

Life used to be good for Matthew Modine. Big name directors wanted him, high-profile press courted him, and the limelight shone brightly upon him. But then his skyrocketing career crashed back down to the dirty mucky earth, especially after he traded the glittery fame of celebrity-stocked movies for the gritty moralism of independent films and "significant" theater. Or so goes the premise of Blair Singer's hilarious and zinger-laden satire of Hollywood celebrity, Matthew Modine Saves the Alpacas, which is receiving its world premiere at the Geffen Playhouse in a production directed with over-the-top glee by Tony Award winner John Rando.
