WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
This world premiere musical, with its totally original concept, offers a glimpse into the fascinating world of the jazz artist - those men and women who make music because they have to, because there is no other way for them to express their deepest and most sensitive emotions. From the swankiest supper clubs to the seediest joints, from the back rooms to the concert hall, jazz has its own environment, its own language, its own unique cast of characters and stories. Featuring a big band, world class singers, and a company of performers who can sing, dance and play it all, Like Jazz celebrates jazz, the quintessential American art form, and those gifted artists whose lives often seem to be as improvised an unpredictable as their music.
The show features music by Cy Coleman, lyrics by Alan and Marilyn Bergman, a book by Larry Gelbart, and musical staging and choreography by Patricia Birch. Gordon Davidson directs. Featured in the cast are internationally renowned recording and concert star Patti Austin and Tony Award-winning Broadway star Lillias White.

If they don't, they may learn to appreciate it but it will never be a part of their soul." Jazz is like opera. Either you're born with that fever roaring through your veins or you are immune to it. I wasn't born with that gene; therefore, I greatly appreciated Like Jazz at the Mark Taper Forum but I wasn't swept away by the show.
On the other hand, jazz aficionados will be in blue heaven if they at[...]
