Victor Hugo's classic novel comes to life as an epic musical story of Jean Valijean, who is pitted against the cruel and self-righteous Inspector Javert in a lifelong struggle to evade capture. Javert remains coldhearted until his life becomes at stake in the French revolution. This long-running Broadway hit has extravagent costumes and musical numbers that will tug at your heart strings. Winner of eight 1987 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Best Book , Best Score, Best Director, Best Set Design (John Napier) and Best Lighting (David Hersey).-dt
