Dodie Smith's I Capture the Castle is a magical story of young love that takes place in the 1930's. Our heroine, Cassandra Mortmain is a 17-year-old girl struggling with the realities of life. Sheltered in the rural countryside she resides with her eccentric family in a crumbling castle. Cassandra dreams of becoming a writer and spends her time inventing stories, while at home watching her father struggle to complete a second novel after the success of his first, 12 years ago. Just when things could not get more complex, Rose, Cassandra's sister, sets the Mortmain family into a long and life changing sequence of events involving their American landlord and his brother.
