Don't let it be forgot
That once there was a spot
For one brief shining moment that was known as Hollywood.
In the world of entertainment, those who truly earned the right to be called Superstars were the performers who built the foundations by which the industry still stands today, those whose talent and vibrant personalities set them apart from their peers. There was a time when names like Garbo, Taylor, Harlow, Bogart, Crawford, Davis, Deitrich, Gable, Astaire, Garland and Hepburn represented the hopes, dreams and passions of the public. June Allyson also has the distinction of being one of the undisputed original industry icons. After starting out on Broadway, she was soon discovered by Hollywood, and established herself as one of the brightest stars in the remarkable stable of talent at MGM studios. She went on to become one of the first top motion picture stars to have her own weekly television show, The Dupont Show with June Allyson.
Hosted by Paul Ryan, Hollywood Salutes June Allyson with Legends of the Silver Screen joins Cyd Charisse, Gloria DeHaven, Kathryn Grayson, Margaret O'Brien, Debbie Reynolds, and Esther Williams in a rare and historic opportunity as the very legendary ladies from Hollywood's golden era pay tribute to one of their own.
A VIP champagne and dessert reception follows the evening's entertainment. Cocktail attire is suggested, with '40s era dress optional.
