WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

De la Locura a la Esperanza, From Madness to Hope, is a historic narrative dance-theatrical performance. The title derives from the name given by the UN Truth Commission on El Salvador to the report that focused on the investigation and clarification of some of the most violent events during the twelve-year Salvadoran Civil War 1980--1992. With a cast of more than 30 people -- dancers, actors and a children choir from the community -- and through traditional folkloric dances and songs, recordings, monologues and theatrical scenes, the play offers a window into the past, including: before, during and after the war; exposing the facts: intervention of the United States under the Reagan's Administration and the more than four billion dollars in army training and weapon support to the Salvadoran Army and the overall result of the war: more than 75,000 deaths, 10,000 people missing, 500,000 internal displaced and 1.5 million people that had to flee the country.
