Who's better than Beethoven? Felix Mendelssohn, suggests this provocative new musical about the 19th Century composer (1809-1847). Handsome, charming, and so supremely gifted that he set a new paradigm for German classical music, Mendelssohn was the closest thing to a rock star, complete with classical groupies, that his culture and country produced. Better Than Beethoven" is a moving story, filled with humor, about a boy who develops into a musical icon , despite the anti-Semitism of his time and place. Inspired by the life of Felix Mendelssohn, the show seeks to convey the essence and charisma of this extraordinary individual.
