WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

Written by Cuban-born Nilo Cruz, Anna in the Tropics explores the life-changing powers of literature among the workers in a Cuban-American cigar factory in 1920s Florida. To reduce the tedium as they roll cigars, the employees are read Anna Karenina by a handsome "lector." Karenina's passions ignite yearning and betrayal among the workers mirroring the novel's tragic events. The production is directed by Guest Artist Armando Molina. SCHEDULE Marian Theatre (June 30 to July 15, 2006) Solvang Festival Theater (July 21 to August 6, 2006)
