In the stifling jungles of Southeast Asia, forbidden love flourishes. Two lives are forever entwined, forever destined to play out life rituals while constrained by culture and colonialism. We first see a pair in the 1920's, a place of rubber plantations and rebel insurgencies, and another 80 years later in the same city, now independent and metropolitan.
