Renée Zellweger has been tapped to play Judy Garland in the upcoming biopic Judy, according to Deadline Hollywood. Tony nominee Rupert Goold (King Charles III, American Psycho) will direct.
The film will chronicle the legendary performer's final London concerts in late 1968. Goold will direct a script written by Tom Edge, with David Livingstone producing. Principal photography is scheduled to begin February 2018.
Though Zellweger has never been on Broadway, she did play Roxie Hart in the 2002 film adaptation of Chicago, earning a Best Actress Oscar nomination for her performance.
