Tony Award winner Idina Menzel has been tapped to star in a new comedy project produced by Warner Bros. TV and Ellen Degeneres' A Very Good Production for the 2015-16 development cycle. The studio is aiming to begin work on the show this summer.

Written by Randi Barnes (Girl Meets World), the show will be a single-camera comedy called Happy Time. Half-hour episodes will follow a woman (Menzel) in the public eye who’s ready to stop pretending she’s so happy all the time.

Menzel, who currently stars in the Broadway musical If/Then, gained widespread notoriety after the release of Disney's blockbuster animated musical Frozen and her Oscar-winning hit single from that film, "Let It Go." On Broadway, she is best known for her roles in the original production of Rent and her Tony-winning performance as Elphaba in Wicked. Her voice also reached football fans all over the country during her performance of the National Anthem at last night's Super Bowl.
