Dual-Language Aladdin Extends at CASA 0101 Theater

The Disney musical adds two weeks of performances to its West Coast run.

Disney's Aladdin – Dual Language Edition / Edición De Lenguaje Dual has added two weeks to its run at CASA 0101 Theater in Los Angeles. Performances will now run through March 5, beyond its original February 19 closing date.

Based on the hit 1992 animated Disney film, the production features a book by Jim Luigs and Jose Cruz Gonzalez, with music from the original movie by Alan Menken and lyrics by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice. The score is adapted, arranged, and orchestrated by Bryan Louiselle with lyric translations by Walterio Pezqueira.

Directed by Rigo Tejeda with choreography by Tania Possick and music direction by Caroline Benzon, Aladdin is set in the fictional Middle Eastern city of Agrabah where a beloved Disney princess finds true love with a commoner boy with a magic carpet.

Michael Torrenueva and Daniel Martinez share the role of Aladdin, Valeria Maldonado and Sarah Kennedy jointly take on the role of Jasmine, Lewis Powell III and Finley Polynice play the Genie, and Omar Mata and Luis Marquez play Jafar. The cast also includes Evan Garcia as Razú; Jason David as Iago; Henry Madrid as Sultán; Sebastian Gonzalez as Abu; Rosa Navarrete as Rajah; Danielle Espinoza as Magic Carpet; Blanca Espinoza as Royal Translator; Shanara Sanders as Royal Translator; Diana Castrillon as Royal Translator. Rounding out the ensemble are Jocelyn Sanchez, Andrew Cano, Mariana Peterson, Andrea Somera, Jesse Maldonado, Alejandro Lechuga, and Bryant Melton.

"The diverse multilingual, multiethnic cast is a prime example of what makes America great, its diversity and inclusion. When everyone is allowed to shine, 'a whole new world' is indeed possible."
