Fox has announced details regarding the final season of its popular musical show Glee. The series, which follows the lovably quirky members of a competitive high school show choir team, had previously announced the upcoming end of its run.

The final season is set to begin on Friday, January 9, with a two-hour opening episode airing at 8pm. Following episodes will air during the show's slated 9pm slot beginning January 16.

Glee stars Broadway veterans Lea Michele, Matthew Morrison, and Jane Lynch, along with Chris Colfer, and Darren Criss.

During a press conference last year, show creator Ryan Murphy said that the unexpected death of show star Cory Monteith forced him to rearrange the remainder of the program's arc. "The final year of the show, which will be next year, was designed around Rachel and Cory/Finn's story," Murphy told reporters. "I always knew how it would end. I knew what the last shot was; he was in it."
