Broadway alums Bernadette Peters (Follies) and Christine Baranski (Boeing-Boeing) have been cast in a new TV series spun off from CBS' The Good Wife, according to Deadline. Executive producer Brooke Kennedy has been tapped to direct the opening episode, which will debut in February 2017 on CBS.

The new series will pick up a year after The Good Wife left off. Peters will play Lenore, mother to young lawyer, Maia (Rose Leslie), whose reputation is ruined by a financial scam. Baranski will take on the role of Maia's mentor Diane Lockhart.

In addition, New York theater vets Paul Guilfoyle (Search and Destroy, CSI) and Cush Jumbo (Shakespeare in the Park's Taming of the Shrew) will play Maia's financial adviser father Henry and lawyer Lucca Quinn, respectively.

Robert and Michelle King will executive-produce the series with Ridley Scott, David Zucker, Liz Glotzer, Brooke Kennedy, and Alison Cross for CBS Television Studios in association with Scott Free Productions and King Size Productions.
