Ben Vereen Leaks Participation in Rocky Horror Reboot on Fox

The Tony-winning Broadway performer adds to the star-studded cast.

Tony Award winner Ben Vereen announced via Twitter today that he will join the cast of Fox's upcoming reboot of The Rocky Horror Picture Show as Dr. Everett Scott. The remake of the cult classic will be presented on the Fox network as a two-hour taped broadcast directed, choreographed, and executive-produced by Kenny Ortega. Additional executive producers include Lou Adler and Gail Berman.

The celebrated actor and dancer joins a cast that is also slated to star Tony winner Annaleigh Ashford (Columbia, Sylvia), Laverne Cox (Dr. Frank-N-Furter, Orange Is the New Black), Victoria Justice (Janet, Victorious), Ryan McCartan (Brad, Liv & Maddie, Heathers: the Musical), Adam Lambert (Eddie, Glee), Reeve Carney (Riff Raff, Penny Dreadful, Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark), Staz Nair (Rocky, Game of Thrones) and Tim Curry, the original Frank-N-Furter, who returns as the show's Criminologist Narrator.

Vereen is best known on Broadway for his Tony-winning performance as Leading Player in the original production of Pippin. His other stage credits include Hair, Jesus Christ Superstar, Jelly's Last Jam, and Fosse, among others.
