A Christmas Story Holds Nationwide Casting Call for Ralphie Parker

The live broadcast of the Tony-nominated stage show will air on Sunday, December 17, on Fox.

Fox is holding a nationwide digital casting call for the role of Ralphie Parker in the upcoming live television production of A Christmas Story, Benj Pasek and Justin Paul's Tony-nominated musical adaptation of Bob Clark's classic 1983 film.

According to a press release, "candidates, ages 9-12, should express strong singing and dancing capabilities and be able to anchor the live three-hour production. As part of the audition, candidates should submit a video performing the original songs 'Red Ryder BB Gun' and 'Before the Old Man.' "

Emmy Award nominee Maya Rudolph will star as Ralphie's mother. Pasek and Paul will compose new songs for the show. Marc Platt and Adam Siegel will executive-produce, with Jonathan Tolins and Robert Cary serving as coexecutive producers and writers. Scott Ellis (She Loves Me) is an executive producer and will serve as the director overseeing the stage direction. Alex Rudzinski is an executive producer and will serve as the live television director.

A Christmas Story will air on Fox Sunday, December 17.
