Viola Davis to Be Honored at Santa Barbara Film Festival

Two-time Tony Award winner Viola Davis will be honored as Outstanding Performer of the Year at the Santa Barbara Film Festival. The ceremony will be held at the historic Arlington Theatre on Friday, January 27, 2012.

The event will include a Tribute celebrating her performance as African American housemaid Aibileen Clark in Tate Taylor’s The Help. Anne Thompson of indieWIRE will moderate. The 27th edition of the Festival runs January 26 – February 5, 2012.

Davis won Tony Awards for Fences and Seven Guitars. She received an Academy Award nomination for her role in the film version of John Patrick Shanley’s Doubt.
