Celebration Theatre will present the world premiere of Fruit Fly, written and performed by Emmy Award winner Leslie Jordan, beginning January 6. David Galligan will direct.

The solo show asks: Do gay men become their mothers? In the piece, Jordan travels back in time to share stories such as when his teenage self sat down with his mother to inform her that he has decided to forego college to become a female impersonator, and going on a Gay Alaskan Cruise with his aging mother when he was 53.

Jordan’s prior stage credits include his solo show My Trip Down the Pink Carpet and the recent Off-Broadway production of the musical, Lucky Guy. He is best known for his Emmy-winning role as Beverley Leslie on Will & Grace, and for his work in writer Del Shores’ Sordid Lives.
