Broadway’s Follies Revival to Play Los Angeles’ Ahmanson Theatre in May

Eric Schaeffer’s revival of Stephen Sondheim and James Goldman’s Follies will play the Ahmanson Theatre, running May 3 – June 9. The production will fill a slot in the venue’s schedule, following the previously reported cancellation of a revival of Funny Girl.

In the musical, when former members of the “Weismann Follies” reunite on the eve of their theater’s demolition, two couples remember their past and face the harsher realities of the present. Reminiscing of their younger selves and the years gone by, the crumbling theater brings back memories for both couples of good times and bad. Casting for the Los Angeles engagement will be announced in the near future.

The revival continues at Broadway’s Marquis Theatre through January 22 and features choreography by Warren Carlyle, music direction by James Moore, and the original orchestrations by Jonathan Tunick. The creative team also includes scenic designer Derek McLane, costume designer Gregg Barnes, lighting designer Natasha Katz, and sound designer by Kai Harada.
