Lauren Gunderson’s Silent Sky Added to South Coast Repertory Season
South Coast Repertory has added the world premiere of Lauren Gunderson’s Silent Sky to its 2010-2011 season. This SCR commission will play the Segerstrom Stage, April 1-May 1.
The play is about Henrietta Leavitt, a real-life female astronomer whose research in the early 1900s altered everything we knew about the universe.
Gunderson’s previous plays include Emilie: Le Marquise Du Châtelet Defends Her Life at the Petite Théâtre at Cirey Tonight, Fire Work, Baby M, Leap, Parts They Call Deep and Exit, Pursued By a Bear. She is the recipient of the Berrilla Kerr Award for American Theatre, Young Playwright’s Award, Eric Bentley New Play Award and Essential Theatre Prize.
