Stage and screen star Campbell Scott has joined the cast of Columbia Pictures’ forthcoming Spider-Man movie, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

As previously reported, stage veteran Andrew Garfield will star as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, alongside Martin Sheen as Peter’s Uncle Ben, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, and Rhys Ifans as an as-yet-unnamed villain. The film will be directed by Marc Webb.

THR also reports that stage veterans Annie Parisse and Julianne Nicholson are “in various stages of discussions to also join the production.”

Scott, who will play the role of Peter’s father, has appeared on Broadway in Long Day’s Journey Into Night, Ah! Wilderness, and Hay Fever. He also starred Off-Broadway in the solo show The Atheist, for which he received a Drama Desk nomination. His film and television credits include Longtime Companion, Dying Young, The Spanish Prisoner, and Six Degrees.

The film is based on the Marvel Comics character, which is also the inspiration for the new Broadway musical, Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark.
