Melissa Manchester Will Be Headline Vocalist for Dance Show Fascinating Rhythms

Grammy Award winner Melissa Manchester will provide the vocals for the Rubicon Theatre Company‘s ballroom dance concert piece, Fascinating Rhythms, to run December 1-19. Cate Caplin will stage the production, which will feature music direction by Dean Mora and arrangements by Stephan Oberhoff.

The show will feature an eight-member ensemble performing in a range of American and International styles, including Mambo, Samba, Waltz, Foxtrot, Argentine Tango, Rumba, Cha Cha and Lindy Hop. The company will feature Anya, Christopher Beroiz, Willem de Vries, Melissa Giattino, Michael Kuka, Natalia Lind, Alicia Michelle Richardson, and Richard Schwartz.

Alongside the dances will be Manchester’s interpretations of songs by
Irving Berlin, George Gershwin and others, as well as a medley of some of her classic hits, including “Midnight Blue,” “Don’t Cry Out Loud,” “Come in from the Rain,” “The Theme from Ice Castles” (“Through the Eyes of Love”), and “Whenever I Call You Friend.” The show will also includes songs by the Bee Gees, Bill Haley and the Comets and others.

In addition to her work as a recording and concert artist, Manchester is co-author of the musical I Sent a Letter to My Love, and has appeared on stage in such works as Sweeney Todd, Song and Dance, and Hats!, which also includes songs that she wrote.
