Jenny Powers, Laila Robins, Bryce Ryness, James Synder, et al. to Star in Dangerous Beauty

John Antony, Megan McGinnis, Laila Robins, Michael Rupert, Bryce Ryness, James Snyder, and Morgan Weed will join previously announced star Jenny Powers in the world premiere musical Dangerous Beauty, at the Pasadena Playhouse, February 1-27. Tony nominee Sheryl Kaller will direct the production, which will open officially on February 13.

Featuring book and verse by Jeannine Dominy, lyrics by Amanda McBroom, and music by Michele Brourman, the show tells the tumultuous tale of Veronica Franco (Powers), a celebrated courtesan/poet of 16th-century Venice.

The work is adapted from the New Regency screenplay The Honest Courtesan written by Dominy, released as the film Dangerous Beauty and inspired by the scholarly book The Honest Courtesan by USC Professor Margaret Rosenthal.

The creative team will include Benoit-Swan Pouffer (choreography), Fred Lassen (music director), Bruce Coughlin (orchestrations), AnnMarie Milazzo (vocal arrangements), Ben Butler (additional orchestrations), Tom Buderwitz (scenic design), Soyon An (costume design), Russell Champa (lighting design), Jon Weston (sound design), and Brian Danner (fight director).
