Veteran of the stage and screen Michael McKean will host the 24th Annual LA Stage Alliance Ovation Awards Ceremony on Sunday, November 3, at the historic San Gabriel Mission Playhouse.

Founded in 1989, the LA STAGE Alliance Ovation Awards are the only peer-judged theater awards in the Greater Los Angeles area. Ovation voters select winners in 35 categories out of a pool of 400 productions.

"I'm thrilled to be hosting the Ovation Awards and helping to bestow upon the worthy the recognition they have earned on the boards of Los Angeles," McKean said in a statement. "LA STAGE Alliance has promised me a T-shirt and a coffee mug, but I'm really doing it for the prestige."

In the world of television, McKean is well known for his portrayal of Lenny on the classic sitcom Laverne & Shirley. He has also appeared in a number of Christopher Guest mockumentaries, including This Is Spinal Tap, A Mighty Wind, and Best in Show. McKean's theater credits include Yes, Prime Minister, Gore Vidal's The Best Man, King Lear, Our Town, Superior Donuts, The Homecoming, The Pajama Game, A Second Hand Memory, Hairspray, On the Razzle, Love Song, and All the Way, in which he is currently appearing at American Repertory Theater.
