Tony Award and Daytime Emmy Award winner Judith Light will join the television cast of the Dallas remake on TNT, according to TVLine.com.

For the show’s second season, the actress will be playing what’s described as “an authoritative and controlling battle-ax who will fight to the death to protect the people she loves.”

Light won a 2012 Tony Award and Drama Desk Award for her performance in Other Desert Cities. She has appeared in stage productions of Lombardi, Wit, and Colder Than Here and is scheduled to return to Broadway in Spring 2013 in Manhattan Theatre Club’s production of Richard Greenberg’s The Assembled Parties.

Her television credits include Ugly Betty, Who’s the Boss?, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, and One Life to Live, for which she won two Daytime Emmy Awards.

Dallas, which is scheduled to return in January 2013, stars Josh Henderson, Jesse Metcalfe, Jordan Brewster, and Brenda Strong, alongside original series’ stars Patrick Duffy, Linda Gray, and Larry Hagman.
