Arye Gross, Annabelle Gurwitch Set for Geffen Production of Donald Margulies’ Coney Island Christmas

The Geffen Playhouse has announce casting for the world premiere production of Coney Island Christmas by Pulitzer Prize winner Donald Margulies, playing November 20-December 30. Bart DeLorenzo will direct.

The play, which is based on the short story The Loudest Voice by Grace Paley, focuses on Shirley Abramowitz, a young Jewish girl who is cast as Jesus in a school Christmas pageant.

The cast will feature Isabella Acres (Shirley), Arye Gross (Mr. Abramowitz), Annabelle Gurwitch (Mrs. Abramowitz), and Angela Paton (adult Shirley) as well as Elitia Daniels, Maya Erskine, Julian Evens, Joe Gillette, Rachel Hirshee, Lily Holleman, Gracie Kaufman, John Sloan, Kira Sternbach, and Andrew Walke.

The design team will include Ann Closs Farley (costume design), Lap Chi Chu (lighting design), and John Ballinger (sound designer).
