Stage and screen stars Robert De Niro and John Travolta will co-star in the new film Killing Season, according to published reports. Mark Steven Johnson will direct the film, to be written by Evan Daugherty.

De Niro will play a reclusive American military veteran, who strikes up a friendship with a man (Travolta) who turns out to be a former Serbian soldier bent on revenge.

De Niro appeared on Broadway in the 1986 play, Cuba & His Teddy Bear for which he received a Theatre World Award. He has won Academy Awards for The Godfather, Part II and Raging Bull, and received nominations for his performances in Taxi Driver, The Deer Hunter, Awakenings, and Cape Fear.

Travolta appeared on Broadway in Grease and Over Here!. He is well known for his work in such films as Saturday Night Fever, Hairspray, and Pulp Fiction, and the television series Welcome Back, Kotter.
