Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid to Be Re-Released in 3D

Walt Disney Studios has announced that it will give a quartet of its popular titles limited theatrical release in 3D in 2012 and 2013.

Two of the movies have gone on to be Broadway musicals and feature scores by Alan Menken (music) and Howard Ashman (lyrics). Beauty and the Beast, which will debut in 3D on January 12, 2012, and The Little Mermaid, which will be released in the new format on September 13, 2013.

In addition, two Disney-Pixar titles will be released in 3D. Finding Nemo, set for a September 14, 2012 release and Monsters, Inc., which will return to theaters on January 18, 2013.
