The Center Theatre Group’s production of Eric Rosen and Matt Sax’s Venice opened on Sunday, October 17 at the Kirk Douglas Theatre. Rosen has directed the musical, a co-production with the Kansas City Repertory Theatre, which will run through November 14.

Set in a not-too-distant future, the show focuses on two brothers who clash over how to save their city in the aftermath of a 20-year war.

Among the opening night guests were actresses Tisha Campbell-Martin and Adriane Lenox. The cast features Uzo Aduba, Erich Bergen, Rodrick Covington, J.D. Goldblatt, Andrea Goss, Javier Muñoz, Victoria Platt, Angela Wildflower Polk, Matt Sax, Alexander Selma, Donald Webber, Jr. and Morgan Weed.

Venice features choreography by John Carrafa and Tanisha Scott and music direction by Curtis Moore, who provides vocal arrangements and additional music. The creative team also includes Meghan Raham (scenic and costume design), David Weiner (lighting design), Joshua Horvath (sound design, music production, incidental music), and Jason H. Thompson (projection design).
