Rachel Weisz, Vanessa Redgrave, David Strathairn to Star in The Whistleblower Film

Academy Award winners Rachel Weisz and Vanessa Redgrave will star alongside David Strathairn and Monica Belluci in the independent film, The Whistleblower, according to Variety. Larysa Kondracki will direct.

According to the trade publication, the film is based on a true story, and is about a female police officer who exposes a UN cover-up of a sex trafficking scandal. The screenplay is by Kondracki and Ellis Kirwin.

Weisz recently starred in the Donmar Warehouse production of Tennessee Williams’ A Streetcar Named Desire. She won a 2002 Theatre World Award for starring in Neil LaBute’s The Shape of Things, and won the 2006 Best Supporting Actress Oscar for The Constant Gardener.

Redgrave most recently starred on Broadway in The Year of Magical Thinking, and will give a benefit performance of the work on October 26 at St. John the Divine in New York City. She won the Tony Award for Long Day’s Journey into Night and the Academy Award for Julia.
