The Santa Barbara Theatre’s staging of Peter Pan will be the first production to use the complete musical score by Leonard Bernstein. Albert Ihde directs J.M. Barrie’s classic fantasy play, which will run at the Lobero Theatre, December 17-28, with an opening on December 19.

Bernstein’s score was originally writtem and intended for a 1950 Broadway production with Boris Karloff and Jean Arthur, and includes two songs and incidental music never used in that production. Alexander Frey, who reconstructed Bernstein’s “lost” score for a critically acclaimed CD, travels from Berlin to conduct the live orchestra.

The 25-person cast will include Donald Agnelli, Sarah Bierstock, Corina Boettger, Chet Carlin, Carolyn Hennesy, and Robert Yacko. Richard Weiss will provide musical direction.
