Les Miserables Film, Starring Russell Crowe and Hugh Jackman, to Now Open on Christmas

Universal will now open the film version of the musical
Les Miserables on December 25 — the coveted Christmas Day slot — according to Variety. It was previously announced to open on December 14.

Directed by Academy Award winner Tom Hooper, the cast features Tony Award winner Hugh Jackman as Jean Valjean, Russell Crowe as Javert, Anne Hathaway as Fantine, Tony winner Eddie Redmayne as Marius, Amanda Seyfried as Cosette, Samantha Barks as Eponine, Aaron Tveit as Enjolras, Colm Wilkinson as the Bishop of Digne, and Helena Bonham Carter and Sasha Baron Cohen as the Thenardiers

In addition, 12-year-old West End actor Daniel Huttlestone plays Gavroche, and other British actors set to appear in the film include Tony winner (and original Broadway cast member) Francis Ruffellle, Bertie Carvel, Adrian Scarborough, Daniel Evans, Caroline Sheen, Hadley Fraser, Killian Donnelly, Mike Jibson, Linzi Hateley, Gemma Wardle, Katy Secombe, Gina Beck, Fra Fee, Alexia Khadine, and Katie Hall.
