Green Day, Alicia Keys to Perform at MTV Video Music Awards

The band Green Day and singer/songwriter Alicia Keys will be among the performers for the MTV Video Music Awards, according to Deadline.com. The ceremony will be held tonight, September 6 at 8pm, at the Los Angeles Staples Center.
Green Day served as inspiration for the Broadway musical American Idiot with frontman Billie Joe Armstrong performing in the show on Broadway. Keys was a producer for the Broadway production of Stick Fly, and also composed original music for the play.
Kevin Hart will host the event, with additional performers including Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne, Rihanna, Frank Ocean, Taylor Swift, Pink and One Direction.
